Project Description
The collection of software projects related to interoperability, developed under the auspices of the IME-USP Interoperability Lab.

The Microsoft-IME Interoperability Lab shall develop applied research activities in a variety of topics that are relevant to the issue of interoperability in information processing. These activities shall initially be organized along two main research lines. Specific activities in each research line shall be prioritized according to the availability of resources and specific requirements of each research topic.
The two initial research lines are as follows:
1. Semantic Interoperability for e-Government: semantic interoperability and the mobility of documents and services across the Internet are topics of great relevance in the context of Technologies for e-Government. Many of the existing research activities focus on services that are relevant internally to single countries, and therefore it is still a challenge to build cross-boundary services, capable of addressing and solving problems that stem from different infrastructures and organizational cultures that we find in each country. Our activities shall focus on ensuring the document interoperability for the e-Government, including semantic interoperability and the integration of services between countries in Latin America.
2. A platform for learning IT related topics based on videogames, based on web services for heterogeneous clients: our activities shall focus on the modernization of learning activities related to IT, so that they become more appealing, thus bringing more students to this area and motivating existing students for further studies, aiming at better professional qualification. This shall be effected through a follow-up to the project started by Prof. Dr. Luciano Digiampietri, from EACH-USP, whose aim is the construction of a web services provider to build and access videogames, in which the construction of new games supports learning activities in IT related topics.
The results of the activities developed within the Microsoft-IME Interoperability Lab shall be embodied as scientific publications as well as open source software. The publications shall be directed to well reputed, peer reviewed international conferences and technical journals, and the software shall be placed in the public repository Codeplex, which can be found at http://www.codeplex.com/NDOS.
